My name is Damaris Drewry. I am a highly-intuitive agent for change. I consider it an honor to be trusted, and I have learned something from every person who has been my client! Helping people recover a sense of empowerment is something I truly enjoy. You will find me to be non-judgmental and compassionate because I have lived through many types of trauma, and have a broad knowledge base to draw from (see below).
Making illness an Ally: “Incurable” issues intrigue me because they are often a manifestation of a state of conflict between body and mind. Balance and resonance can be restored by uncovering and In resolving core issues. Traumatizing events underlie almost every imbalance in health and relationships. My main modalities for clearing lingering effects of trauma are acupuncture meridian tapping (EFT) and neuro-linguistic programming (NLP). These combined modalities help speed up the process of finding solutions that work in a few sessions instead of years.
MY STORY: I started out counseling in an unexpected way during the late 1980’s. I already had an undergraduate degree in Sociology/Psychology but wasn’t using it at that time. I was singing professionally. People who heard me sing in concerts approached me afterwards, in tears, saying while I was singing they decided to get married, get divorced, change their name, quit their job. There was something authentic in the way I sang that gave others the courage to be true to themselves. Then people started asking me to help them free up their voices. And that became freeing up their ability to stand up for themselves by speaking their truth AT THE TIME they needed to, rather than being afraid for years to evoke negative reactions to their voiced feelings. Helping people deal with childhood abuse that shut down their ability to speak up for themselves led me into a counseling profession. Over 25 years of teaching clients how to stop traumatic memories from wrecking their lives, I evolved into a trauma resolution specialist.
In 2000 I began using Energy Psychology and learned EFT (a.k.a. “tapping”) from its creator – Gary Craig. Gary created Emotional Freedom Techniques™ (EFT) (a.k.a. “tapping”) by combining and simplifying the work of Roger Callahan, George Goodheart, and others. I find this modality to be extremely effective in remediating trauma and post-traumatic stress, and I use it with every client. I also use the concept of Neuro-Linguistic Programming to help my clients learn how to reframe decisions they made, usually as children, during traumatizing events. This means I can help people get permanent results in just a few sessions. If you know who Gary Craig is, it will be meaningful for you to know he published 5 of my success stories in his newsletter. Here is the link for my Central Sleep Apnea discovery that is still on his site.
INCURABLE ISSUES: Years later I had to walk my talk (again): I was diagnosed with uterine cancer. My MD scared me half to death by telling me I needed to have surgery within FIVE DAYS of the diagnosis! So I used all my methods including EFT (Tapping) and NLP to clear all the possible reasons my body had for developing cancer. The big reason was a date-rape at age 35. Of course I was so frightened I went ahead with the surgery and there was absolutely NO cancer left in my body. I cleared all that energy out of my body and nervous system! (To find out how and why I use Neuro-Linguistic Programming click here).
After successfully clearing cancer, I was passionate about tackling other “incurable” problems – so I started working with sleep apnea and discovered that for millions of people who are struggling with CPAP machines, their problem is actually CENTRAL SLEEP APNEA which I found to be caused by traumatizing events. Those events can be totally cleared and the Central Sleep Apnea along with it. I feel this is the discovery of a lifetime and I am dedicated to getting it out in the world.
One of my other specialties is helping people who have been wounded by a narcissistic parent recovery from this deep injury. It usually shows up as re-enacting the childhood trauma by creating a similar scenario with different narcissistic people playing similar roles (husband, wife or boss). I help my clients see how and why they are re-enacting the original trauma and understand that this devastating pattern can be cleared. The first and most important message about recovery from narcissistic abuse is that IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT THAT YOU STRUGGLED WITH A NARCISSIST AND LOST YOURSELF.
